Call for Abstracts

The Global Ismaili Health Professionals Conference aims to elevate the visibility, impact, and innovation of Ismaili health professionals across the world. By inviting abstract submissions, GIHPC provides a platform for clinicians, scientists, educators, trainees, and allied health experts to share original work, disseminate new ideas, and contribute to global dialogue on improving health outcomes.

We are pleased to welcome abstract submissions from Ismaili health professionals worldwide for presentation at the 2026 Conference. We invite clinicians, researchers, students, and health professionals-in-training to contribute original work that reflects innovation, critical thinking, and meaningful impact in any area of health or healthcare delivery.

All submissions must be in English and must represent the original work of the submitting author. While the role of artificial intelligence in healthcare is an important emerging topic, the use of AI tools to generate or refine the language of the submission is discouraged to ensure authenticity and academic integrity.

Alerts Notification of abstract acceptance will be communicated to all authors by mid-February 2026, following completion of the review process

We welcome submissions in the following categories

Each submission must be assigned to one of the following conference domains:

Clinical Practice

Focuses on advancements in diagnosis, treatment, patient care, and clinical outcomes across all medical and surgical specialties.

Health Innovation and Technology

Highlights novel tools, digital solutions, AI applications, and technology-driven approaches that enhance healthcare delivery, efficiency, or patient outcomes.

Mental Health & Wellness

Encompasses research and initiatives related to mental health promotion, psychological well-being, behavioral health, and integrated care models.

Public Health, Environmental Sciences, and Preventative Medicine

Covers population-level health initiatives, disease prevention, environmental and social determinants of health, and strategies to improve community well-being.

Leadership and Professional Development

Explores strategies, skills, and experiences that strengthen leadership, education, career development, and capacity-building within the health professions.

Ethics, Health Equity, and Global Health

Addresses ethical considerations, equity-driven approaches, and global or cross-border health issues aimed at improving fairness and access in healthcare.

Abstract Submission Requirements

Title: Maximum 20 words
Authors: Full names, degrees, affiliations, contact email for corresponding author
Word limit for body: Maximum 300 words or 3000 characters

Required structure for Scientific Abstracts/Case Reports:
– Background
– Methods/Case Description
– Results/Discussion
– Conclusion/Implications

Required structure for Projects:
– Background
– Objectives
– Milestones
– Progress
– Challenges

Consider how oral or poster presentation is engaging, interactive, and memorable for a diverse audience. Submitters should describe briefly how they plan to translate their findings or insights in creative ways — for example, through audience interaction, visual storytelling, digital media, demonstrations, case-based learning, participatory discussion, or other innovative knowledge translation techniques that enhance understanding and impact. No tables or figures are allowed in abstract submissions.

Review and Selection Process

Each abstract will be peer-reviewed by multiple members of the Scientific Committee based on relevance, quality, originality and clarity. Abstracts may be accepted as oral or poster presentation, at the discretion of the committee. All decisions are final.

Abstract Evaluation Criteria for Reviewers

Relevance to Conference Themes
Does the abstract align with the conference’s goals and themes? (1-5)

Originality and Innovation
Does the work present new ideas, perspectives, or approaches? Does it add value to existing knowledge or practice? (1-5)

Clarity and Structure
Is the abstract well-written, logically structured, and easy to follow? (1-5)

Methodological Rigor/Quality
Are the methods clearly described, appropriate, and robust for the research question or intervention? (1-5)

Significance and Impact
Does the work address an important issue? Does it have implications for policy, practice, or future research? (1-5)

Interactive Communication
Does the abstract demonstrate thoughtful consideration of how the presentation will engage the audience through creative, interactive, or innovative approaches that make key messages clear, accessible, and impactful? (1-5)

Guidelines for Oral Presenters

All accepted oral presenters are required to prepare their presentations using the following structure and formatting standards. This ensures clarity, consistency, and alignment with the conference’s scientific goals.

For Scientific Abstracts/Case Reports

Title Slide: Presentation title, presenting authors’ names/credentials, institutional affiliation/logo, GIHPC logo (provided in slide template)
Background Slide: Briefly outline the context and problem being addressed. Keep text minimal, and use bullet points and visuals when appropriate
Methods/Case description Slide: Study design, population, data collection and analysis. For case description: Patient presentation, workup, interventions and timeline
Conclusions/Implications: Summary of findings, relevance to practice/policy, suggestions for future research/programs

For Projects:

Title Slide: Presentation title, presenting authors’ names/credentials, institutional affiliation/logo, GIHPC logo (provided in slide template)
Background Slide: Briefly outline the context and need for the project. Keep text minimal, and use bullet points and visuals when appropriate
Objectives Slide: Define clear goals or intended outcomes of the project, both short and long-term aims.
Milestones Slide: List key activities, timelines/phases of the project and highlight major achievements /benchmarks reached
Progress Slide: Mention current status of the project and qualitative/quantitative indicators of success
Challenges Slide: List the logistical, political and financial barriers encountered and how they were addressed

Guidelines for e-Poster Presenters

The official GIHPC poster template will include:

Top left corner: The GIHPC conference logo (pre-embedded in the template; must not be removed or altered)
Top right corner: Space reserved for the presenter’s affiliated institution or organization logo (to be inserted by the presenter)
Title field (top centered): A designated area across the top of the poster for the project/abstract title, written in Title Case, Bold with the presenting author’s name and affiliation directly below.

Three equal vertical columns:

Left column: Background, Methods/Case description OR Objectives
Middle column (visual focus): Figures, graphs, tables and illustrations. Clear figure legends and labeling are required. Ensure high resolution visuals and accessible color contrasts
Right column: Results/Discussion, Conclusions/Implications, OR Milestones, Progress, and Challenges. Disclosures (if applicable)

All accepted abstracts are required to submit their final posters and oral presentations using the official conference template and adhere to the following formatting standards:

Posters/oral presentations must be created using Microsoft PowerPoint (.pptx) format provided.
A downloadable poster and presentation template will be provided in February 2026 to the accepted presenters. This template is mandatory and ensures visual consistency across all displayed posters.

All posters will be displayed in e-poster format only. In alignment with the environmental sustainability principles of the Ismaili Center Houston, no printed posters will be accepted or displayed.
